atlanta-based helix expands on the techno/grime hybridity hinted at on his hit drum track 12 inch with the newest instalment of night slugs club constructions series. it is apt that some of the original material shortlisted for this release was lost to the digital tides, subsequently having to be restored or rebuilt in night slugs london studio during a visit by helix in late 2012.

there is not much information available about this mysterious release, but it looks like a sunken treasure has found its way to daylight: a crazy no-wavey-punk-funky jam by the artist formerly known as a guy from minneapolis. now available for the first time on 12 inch! pressed on purple vinyl with white marbling, this beautiful diamond comes along with three pearls: a re-mastered version of the original track, a cover version and a jackin house re-edit. we suspect that berlin based producer noema droped the crazy cover version and chicagos own jamie 3:26 rides the rhythm on the edità rumours..rumours..rumours

is it balearic return with an absolutely superb ep from new signings saint petersburg disco spin spdsc are a collective of live musicians and djs from russia this is their debut release for iib, but a handful of tracks on labels like glenview & teardrop have made serious waves - skillfully combining live disco musicianship with the dj sensibilities which shape their sound. from club friendly and hooky dancefloor tracks to blissfully executed downtempo jams. all pulled off with a loose but pin sharp production style that really makes them stand out i never leave you leads on the a side, a steadily assembled sunset workout, with brass elements defining the groove. marwencol manages to deftly pull off a balearic wu-tang move, whil love spin is a beautifully lolloping beach bar jam, which comes complete with a very dubbed-out dub version too.

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

the next instalment, we feature artists from the growing lht family jamie blanco opens the record with his accomplice sam mensah on singin duties - jamie and alphonse worked in the studio together on this version we think will appeal to fans of real house music next up is bintus of power vacuum with his first original track on lht and theres no messing about - raw acid and stripped drums and at a pace that we can dance too, label boss alphonse opens side b with a deep 808 jam and this is followed by lht studio wizz facade who finishes with another piece of what can only be described as big.

disco bloodbath recordings latest is the debut solo release from one of the founders and original residents of the disco bloodbath clubnights, dan beaumont - formally of production duo jam factory and the man behind london venues dalston superstore and the newly opened dance tunnel. reality checkpoint is an atmospheric mid-tempo house chugger based around judicious use of samples and a slight dub-reggae sensibility to the groove. the original is accompanied by two alternate versions - one from neville watson, which pushes the track into club territory, and one from dan himself, which strips things back, further accentuating the tracks dub overtones.

chicagos own boogie nite drops his 2nd 12 inch on glenview and it is a stunner. 4 cuts all guaranteed to get the dancefloor moving: love u (a bangin disco houser), everything good 2 ya (a slow superfly-tastic jam), free 2013 (a soaring jazz tinged house groover-awesome!) and dat boy again (a punchy disco cut).

we are super excited to bring you the debut release from portugals finest, tiago miranda on his new label interzona 13. joo joo leads the charge with a sample slammer reminiscent of the dancefloor dynamite from japans cult major force label. on the flip, interzona is a precision percussion jam that gets hold and wont let go - pure voodoo. finally maquina dos sonhos wraps up this superb selection with a slice of tripped out balearia. wonderful stuff!

next up on local talk we got a raw peak hour jam from liverpool producer dale howard (lost my dog, large, morris/audio, off rec). there is nothing light or fluffy about these tracks, its just dirty straight up house music with a dark 90s basement feel. for the main track we actually chose the dub version of throwback over of the original mix. we just thought this version was soooo freakin raw even though its more stripped than the original version. you’ll see what we mean when you drop it in the club! the second track in out goes along the same house theories as throwback with jackin beats and deep chords that will do wonders in any authentic house basement. all in all, a might fine release of classic local talk house music. enjoy!
